Mt. Vernon Church has deep roots in Jones County, beginning in a wood-framed school in the Glade Community in 1883.  Over 135 years later, we’re still serving and growing together.

Since 1967, we've had three pastors:  Rev. Gene Early, Rev. Phil Smith, and Rev. Davy Fenton. God has blessed our church greatly through the years with countless salvations, new ministries, and ministers called to serve the work of God.

Our spiritual roots are found in a dedication to the Scriptural teaching that salvation is by grace through faith, and that we can experience a holy heart and life through the power of the Holy Spirit.
